The Marketing Team - The MN Marketing team is a group of students from several majors across campus who  work collectively to increase readership and student engagement while building brand awareness for Mustang News, in addition to being the support to the sales team.  The team also works with select local businesses as a grass-roots street marketing team.  New to the team, is the addition of a Content Manager, responsible for developing stories for Branded Content. 

Learn by Doing Experience =  Like the sales team, the marketing team is taught the fundamentals of marketing and sales.  They provide tools for the sales team to be successful, which include sell sheets, analytics, prospecting and lead development, plus campaign management.  They receive hands on experience by writing the marketing plan each year; detailing events, campaigns and S.M.A.R.T.* goals for the team.  Then they operate from the plan to execute social media campaigns, print campaigns and events.  The marketing team is responsible for orchestrating and executing two of the largest on-campus events; SLO FEST and HOUSING FAIR. Both events require a dedicated team to coordinate vendors, plan the event, staff the event, and create a visual ad campaign to promote the event.  Additionally, the marketing team is taught how to work with a design team -- how to communication visual direction through creative briefs and mood-boards.   * {Specific.
